Rebecca Potash, founder of K+ Glass, engaged me to develop the brand and digital presence for her glassblowing practice.
With a background spanning both chemistry (Ph.D., Cornell) and art, the identity draws from this duality—grounded in material science and expressed through craft.
Her name itself reinforces the concept: potash, a potassium compound used to lower the melting point of glass, ties directly to K+, the atomic symbol.
The system was designed to stay restrained—allowing the work, and the inherent pull of the medium, to take focus.

Serene
Rebecca’s expertise—spanning consulting for Corning Museum of Glass to hands-on instruction—revealed a key gap: the complexity of glassmaking wasn’t translating to customers.
We addressed this through short-form educational content, distilling material science into accessible video. This became The Laboratory—a system for building authority, transparency, and engagement across channels.
Top-performing content reached 225K+ views.
Moodboard
As an artist herself, Rebecca had plenty of references to bring to the table. We worked together to build a guiding set of imagery, from which I started to pinpoint themes to hone in on.
Drawing inspiration from the elements (earth/wind/fire/water as well as the scientific elements), vintage science ephemera, art deco, raygun gothic, and surrealist styles, a few particular themes arose that started to guide the design direction—diagonal lines/axis, modernist type, cool color palette.

Logo
Rebecca’s prime objective in working with me was a logo rehaul. She couldn’t get the proportions right on her own, so we focused on that.
A custom K letterform anchors the identity—designed for balance, proportion, and system-wide consistency. Its placement is fixed to the upper-left, referencing periodic table structure.
A secondary mark supports small-scale applications, preserving legibility across glassware.
Proper proportions
Palette
A cool, dramatic palette reminiscent of the sea (where Rebecca draws most of her inspiration) was selected to recede and let the color of her glass work shine.
Stationery
Printed materials created to evoke an aesthetic of science/lab books.
Packaging
Packaging prioritizes visible product color and efficient pre-packing—supporting a more streamlined fulfillment process during peak demand.
Glass purchases are padded in tissue before either being shipped, or wrapped in front of a customer at a shop, farmer’s market, or pop-up sale. Creating a branded moment here elevates the unboxing experience for gift recipients and extends the identity.
A branded matchbox extends the identity into a tactile touchpoint—tying directly to fire as the core of the craft.
Photography
I shot all of the images for site launch, as well as a special drop with partner Slacktide Coffee. The images and placement on social helped sell out the collection in 48 hours—something virtually unheard of in the glass world. More images can be seen here.
